If you are already highly skilled in accountancy and bookkeeping, then you will not need any help from an accountant in entering your transactions into any of the MTD compliant software products - including our own WebsterAccounts. On the other hand, if you are not expert then there is every chance that you will make mistakes. As with any software data entry it is always more time consuming to correct errors than to help avoid them in the first place.
So, we typically work with clients to get it right from the beginning. It is usually better for an expert to set up the software in the first place to suit your business. The we encourage clients to collaborate with us when they are first ready to sit down and record transactions for the first time. This can be in the office or over the telephone, or Skype, WhatsApp, Facetime etc. Then you get into the habit of doing it correctly.
Fixing an error when you have entered one or two transactions is easy: when you have entered 100 in the same incorrect way it is very time consuming to fix. One of our clients used the bank feed in Xero and entered some statements twice. It took several hours work to delete the wrong transactions.
