After establishing websters 30 years ago, my role remains as the leader of the team pushing for growth and development and guiding the team on all aspects of tax planning for individuals and their businesses.
What I enjoy most is helping people solve their problems. While two transactions can appear similar, they can have hugely different tax consequences. You have to pay attention to the details to ensure that the right advice is given but the most important aspect of the process is working with a client to understand what they want to achieve, and sometimes even helping them to understand what it is they want to achieve.
My current professional work is focused on high net worth individuals focusing tax, legal and financial advice from our team and helping business owners with succession planning and business transfers.
I now have over 43 years of tax experience. I qualified as an Inspector of Taxes with the Inland Revenue after joining them as a Graduate Direct Entrant after a degree in Philosophy from Sheffield.
Pleased to be able to help the firm continue to grow and to help develop a talented team of colleagues.
Hobbies and interests
Outside of work music is my biggest passion, and my family the main priority. With musical talent running throughout the family he is able to enjoy time playing the guitar, and recently the Mandolin as well as listening to a wide range of music. For many years I was a compere at the Cambridge Folk Festival. My current challenge is trying to improve my French.
