submitting information for your tax return
The more organised you can be in submitting your tax return information to us the easier it is for us to prepare your tax return cost effectively.
1 Provide the information complete in one shot. It can then be processed once
2 Use the request for information letter as a checklist
3 Respond quickly to requests for information. We then complete the return whilst it is fresh in our minds - without spending time reviewing or chasing.
4 Collateyour tax return information during the year so it is already together!
5 Provide copies of all source documents e.g. P60s so we can check figures
6 Send us notices of coding - HMRC no longer send them to us to save money
7 Send us copies of letting statements for property so we can identify both income & expenses
Some common "mistakes" to avoid
Sending information for the wrong year
Omitting small items e.g. bank interest, dividends
Forgetting your charitable donations - e.g. TV appeals, National Trust etc
State pensions - you usually get 13 payments per year not 12
Send us details of all your pensions to claim higher rate relief
time is valuable!!
There is no requirement for you to do more work if you do not want to.
Many of our clients take the view that they want to pay us to order their affairs so that they have more time to spend on what they are good at or prefer doing.
We let you decide which you prefer. We even let you change your mind from one year to the next if you prefer. That is why many of our clients are not on a fixed fee - to give them that flexibility.
You decide!
