We did it! Chariots of Fire Relay Race 2016

Not quite the “4 minute mile standard”, but the team of websters Tax Tigers made it round the 10.2 mile course in a very respectable 1:26:10. This was a relay race with six team members each running 1.7 miles. The Tax Tigers were (in running order): David Taine, Kevin Bower, Alex Jones, Trishna Shah, Felix Freebairn and Donna Whitaker.

Chariots of Fire is organised and managed by Hewitsons’ Charitable Trust and is one of Cambridgeshire’s largest annual charity events. Papworth Hospital Charity was chosen as the sole benefactor for the 2016 event.

Donna Whitaker – Personal Tax Manager, incentivised, encouraged and bribed her colleagues into participating in this event, even arranging training sessions for the team after work. Donna said “Chariots of Fire is a great opportunity for the team to get together to achieve something bigger than ourselves. It was when I started encouraging colleagues to join the team, and hearing how Papworth had touched their lives that I truly began to realise how many people that I knew had benefited from the amazing work done there”.

Tax Tigers, ran with painted faces and tails – looking very fierce. They have raised an amazing £1,321.00, and had a team of supporters at the side lines cheering them on. It was such great fun for a worthwhile cause that they are already discussing entering again next year.

Catriona Freebairn, Managing Director said “We are very proud of our Tax Tigers – the training paid off and they raised a wonderful amount of money for this very worthwhile charity’’.
