Andrew Webster

Managing Director and Specialist Tax Advisor
Has been involved in tax for twenty eight years since leaving University. Originally a Tax Inspector, he moved to Cambridge with the Inland Revenue in 1986 to be responsible for companies in the Cambridge area.

Leaving the Revenue he joined a large accountancy practice for three years before starting his own practice - dealing with one-off tax consultancy assignments, Inland Revenue investigations etc.

In 1996 he decided to broaden the business to offer a fuller range of services. Over seven years the business has grown quickly by offering a high level of tax expertise, a personal service and an informal friendly style.

Clients have been impressed by his ability to quickly analyse a complex situation and advise on novel approaches to solve a problem or to avoid a tax liability. This is more important to us than buying in "off the peg" avoidance schemes which are at risk of challenge by the Revenue.

Recent areas of work have included Reports for Special Compliance Office of the Inland Revenue, EIS schemes (we have set up over 30 schemes), and obtaining tax refunds for clients following the ruling in Mansworth v Jelley.

Andrew's areas of expertise include:

  • Negotiation's with the HM Revenue and Customs
  • Serious Tax Investigations
  • Capital Gains Tax (CGT) Planning
  • Business Tax Planning
  • Interplay between Corporate and Personal Tax Issues
  • Employee Tax Issues - Share Options and Equity Participation
  • Enterprise Investment Scheme's (EIS)
  • High Net worth Consultancy Clients

Outside work his main interest is in music. He is semi-professional guitarist and compere at the Cambridge Folk Festival.
