Liz Hooley
I provide legal and capital taxes planning advice to clients of the firm and on related matters internally within the firm. As the New Business Manager, I am also responsible for arranging and holding first meetings with potential clients to assess their needs and the ways in which our firm can assist them.
My main area of expertise is advising on inheritance tax issues including the setting up of Wills, trust arrangements, deeds of variation and a full probate service. My expertise also extends to setting up companies together with a full company secretarial service, limited liability partnerships, ordinary partnerships and charities and can provide a full range of legal agreements and contracts for these different entities.
I am also head of the Private Client Department, as part of a multi-disciplinary practice much of the legal work I undertake is also closely integrated with our international tax planning, financial planning and accountancy services departments. This provides our clients with a comprehensive service ‘under one roof' and allows us to deliver a highly cost-effective service, especially on transactions where the value does not justify exorbitant legal fees and costs.
history
I read Economics and Law at Newnham College, Cambridge. After law school I qualified and practiced at one of the leading City law firms in their Private Client Department. I specialised in advising high net worth clients and high profile charities.
After seven years working in the City, both my husband and I decided to leave London and we came to live in Cambridge. Whilst our two sons were of pre-school age I worked part-time for a small family business. I returned to legal practice when my youngest son started school and joined Andrew Webster Associates in 1998. Over the years, I have prided myself in building up a strong rapport with the firm's clients and enjoyed being involved in providing imaginative solutions to a whole range of legal and tax issues.
other business
I have been a member of the Newnham College Roll (alumnae) committee since 2000 and am currently Vice- President. I have really enjoyed being involved with various events that have encouraged alumnae to return to Newnham.
outside interests
I am a keen tennis player and derive great pleasure from travelling all around the country to watch my sons compete in various sports.
the future
I am keen to oversee further expansion in the private client department providing comprehensive legal and tax services for all stages of life for our clients.
