Alastair Fish, Director of Corporate Recovery – websters Insolvency Limited (FCCA, MABRP)

I joined websters on Monday 20th June with a remit to build up a corporate recovery practice and also to assist the existing websters’ team on general practice accountancy work including preparation of accounts, Corporation Tax returns and self-assessment returns.

By way of introduction, I joined Grant Thornton UK LLP (“Grant Thornton”) as a trainee within their Farms department in Norwich. I studied towards the ACCA qualification whilst undertaking general practice accountancy work (including drafting tax computations) together with some audit work. I also spent a year on secondment at Grant Thornton’s national training centre delivering courses to the firm’s graduates during their first three years. On completion of this, I transferred to Grant Thornton’s Recovery and Reorganisation department where I was involved in independent business reviews, administrations, company voluntary arrangements and liquidations (both solvent and insolvent). Following completion of my insolvency exams, I moved to BDO where I continued to specialise in insolvency work. For the last two and three-quarter years I have been actively engaged in both insolvency and general practice accountancy work specifically targeted at the SME marketplace.

As you will no doubt appreciate, the insolvency offering, through websters Insolvency, will not be a full-time proposition on day one. On starting, the majority of my time will therefore be dealing with websters’ increasing general practice accountancy work for companies, LLPs and individuals. I will be working closely with Gary Eves and the accounts team as a whole.

I am certain that my addition to the team will present a real opportunity to extend the range of services that websters provide. If you are giving consideration to either retiring or extracting value from your business, I would be very interested to hear from you, so please do speak to your existing websters’ Account Manager or contact me direct either on the main switchboard number (01223 507080) or by email:

I am very much looking forward to this opportunity and working closely with you as part of websters’ accounts team.
