The Treasury has announced second consultation document on the tax treatment of people in UK who retain a foreign domicile. The main provisions are:

•  increasing the existing RBC from £30k to £50k for persons R in the UK for 12 or more of the prior 14 years

•  enabling non-doms to remit tax-free to the UK for the purpose of commercial investment in the UK

•  simplification of some of the more technical legislation relating to the remittance basis

Nominated income – individuals can remit upto £10 without triggering the identification rules

FCBA (For. Currency Bank Accs) gains on foreign currency will be removed from a CGT charge

Statement of Practice 1/09 will be put on a statutory basis and the obligation to operate the mixed fund rules will be removed
