Companies Tax

Andrew Webster Limited provides a comprehensive service for companies in assisting with all aspects of corporate tax compliance. This includes preparing the tax computation and completing the tax return, advice on company claims and elections and tax structuring.

Our team includes Catriona Freebairn (Chartered Certified Accountant (Fellow), with 18 years of Practice experience in audit, accounting, and tax, specialising in Hi-Tech businesses and more complex accounting issues), Gary Eves (a Chartered Certified Account (Fellow), who is the manager of the accounts and business tax team, advising on accounting and business tax issues), and Joanne Lamberth (a chartered accountant and chartered tax advisor who has advised companies on various tax issues including research and development tax credits).

Services
We complete audit files for companies that require a statutory audit and then pass them on to one of the audit firms with whom we have a close working relationship for review and signature. As the threshold for audits has risen from £1 million to £5.6 million in early 2004, many more companies fall within our ambit and do not require a statutory audit.

We also work closely with companies who use another firm to complete the statutory audit while we complete the corporation tax computation and return. This works well for start-ups who are looking to float the company - they may want a name to sign the audit opinion - but want a more personal (and less expensive) option on tax issues.

We have a consultancy service with considerable expertise in providing tax efficient solutions to meet the needs of our clients. One of those areas where we have done a significant amount of work, is obtaining Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) status where appropriate for our clients.

We have particular expertise in Consultancy companies including computer contractors - but we deal with larger businesses - in particular Bio-tech start-ups. We also act for the UK subsidiaries of a number of overseas companies who have limited physical presence in the UK. For these clients, the ability to use us as their UK registered office and have us deal with UK accountancy and tax compliance procedures is invaluable, particularly since the use of WebsterAccounts (our proprietary web-based accounting system) enables the parent company to easily monitor the financial position and operations of its subsidiary.

We are in the process of creating a "Starting in Business" service pack - this will provide a variety of services to help clients new to business get up to speed with the various issues they will face in their early years.
